Top Tips Number Two - Do It With A Friend
Laugh and the world laughs with you, diet and you're on your own matey!!!!!
It is very hard to be the only person in the room trying to loose a bit of weight. You know what it is like. You are at a bit of a do with your friends and someone passes round a great big plate of fresh cream buns. You watch them make their inevitable way towards you getting bigger and bigger by the moment. Your mouth starts to water, your heart beats a little faster, you can SMELL the chocolate on the eclairs. Finally it reaches you and your hostess holds the plate out toward you invitingly. "No thank you very much", says your mouth while your eyes scream "GIMME GIMME!", "I'm trying to watch my weight". "Aw go on", says your friend, "one won't hurt you! Everyone else is having one...." The rest is history is it not?
We all know how much easier anything is if we have someone else with us for support. Remember going to the principals office after school? It was always better if your best friend was in trouble too, made it seem less worrying somehow.
So get a friend to join you on your crusade. You can give each other all the strength and support you will need to learn to say no , and MEAN it. You can compare notes, swap ideas, cry on each others shoulders. You can check each others notebooks and point each other in the right direction! When things are getting difficult, to be able to call on a friend is a wonderful thing indeed!
You and your friend should make a point of doing your weekly shop together. You will be much less likely to buy the wrong foods if they are with you. You will be able to plan your meals together, sharing ideas and recipes. You will find that your shopping bill will be considerably lower too. Have you SEEN the price of chocolate biscuits?!
You will find you will try harder too, because you won't want to let your friend down. Knowing that someone else can't have a box of chocolates either helps more than you would think.
Its much easier to get out and about with a friend. You may find that you are too shy or self conscious to join a gym or go swimming on your own. With a friend along suddenly it's not so bad. Join a club, get a hobby or take a night class together. After all if you are busy you won't have time to eat!
Most of all, enjoy your friendship. Have a laugh, go on you know you want to. A lot of people use food for comfort or company, replacing it with a real person can change your life.
